asknex is built around three surfaces: Ask, NexDocs, and Skills. They share one workspace, one Library, and cited answers.

Ask

Ask blends live web exploration with models to return sourced answers — not a list of links. From the composer you can turn tools on or off for that chat:
  • Web — search the open web
  • Image — generate images from a prompt
  • Skills — use enabled skills
  • Connectors — use connected apps (when you have them)
Optional sources include Academic, Reddit, Wikipedia, and GitHub.

Citations

When Ask uses sources, citations sit on the answer. Open Sources to check them. Do not treat an answer as a primary source. Learn more about Ask →

NexDocs

Chat with files in your workspace. Upload PDFs, Word, text, markdown, and spreadsheets, then ask questions against one file or many. Why it is separate from Ask: NexDocs answers from your documents. Ask answers from the web and tools unless you attach files.
  • Upload and process files in Library / Files
  • Switch the composer to NexDocs
  • Answers stay grounded in those files, with citations back to them
  • Files stay in your workspace

Skills

Skills are reusable instructions for Ask. They replaced the old Agents Hub — there is no agent marketplace in the sidebar.
  • AskNex skills — builtins you can browse and enable
  • Personal skills — you write the name and instructions in Settings
  • Enable a skill, turn on Skills in the composer, then @mention it

Library

Every Ask and NexDocs thread lands in Library. Reopen it, bookmark it, or share a link. Files you uploaded live next to those threads.
