Welcome to asknex. This guide gets you from sign-in to a cited answer and a file chat.

Step 1: Sign in

  1. Visit asknex.chat
  2. Open Ask or Get Started
  3. Continue with Google, or continue with email
  4. Open /app — that is Home
You can explore on the free plan. Higher limits are waitlist — see Usage access.

Step 2: Learn the chrome

  • New Chat — start a thread on Home
  • Library — past threads, bookmarks, and files
  • Account menu (bottom) — Settings, appearance, higher limits, sign out
There is no Agents item in the sidebar. Skills live in Settings → Skills.

Composer

The Home composer has two modes:
  • Ask — web, tools, and skills
  • NexDocs — your uploaded files
Type a question and send. Answers include citations when sources were used.

Step 3: Your first Ask

  1. Click New Chat
  2. Leave the toggle on Ask
  3. Type a question — for example, “What changed in renewable energy this year?”
  4. Read the answer and open Sources
  5. Ask a follow-up in the same thread
Tips: Be specific. Check citations. Follow up instead of starting over.

Step 4: Chat with a file

  1. Switch the composer to NexDocs, or open Library and upload from Files
  2. Add a PDF, Word doc, text, markdown, or spreadsheet
  3. Wait until processing finishes
  4. Ask things like:
    • “Summarize this document”
    • “What are the key findings?”
    • “Extract dates and named people”
Your files stay in your workspace.

Step 5: Try a skill

Skills are instructions Ask can follow. They are not a separate Agents Hub.
  1. Open the account menu → Settings → Skills
  2. Browse AskNex skills, or Add a personal skill
  3. Enable the skill, then return to Home
  4. In Ask, turn on Skills in the composer tools
  5. Mention the skill with @name when you want it for that turn

  1. Open Library
  2. Reopen a thread, or filter to files
